After following the au pair case, I believe that if I now had a teenage daughter, I would not allow her to enter a stranger’s home to even babysit.

It is too easy to scapegoat a young person for misjudging a situation or making a serious but unintentional mistake because of the physical configuration or emotional situation in the home. I would sooner give my kids an increase in their allowance than have them take such a dangerous job.

The au pair case scapegoats a child of 19 who probably did not have the social skills or the personality for the job, but to convict her of murder is a disgrace to the judicial system and to our country.
