Trustees have given tentative approval to allow a North Addison Road business owner to build a self-storage facility on an adjacent piece of property that formerly was a railroad right-of-way.

Dura-Ply Roofing Corp., 860 N. Addison Rd., recently purchased a small, landlocked portion of the Illinois Central Railroad’s abandoned milelong rail spur along Addison Road immediately behind its property. It plans to build a 14,000-square-foot heated storage facility that customers would use for equipment, household items and office documents.

Customers would access the storage facility from Dura-Ply’s existing driveways.
