I was pleased to read the Oct. 24 Tempo story “Mission accomplished” on Ellen Blackman, a Chicago woman who left her job and risked her life by traveling to Bosnia first as a journalist, then as a crusader to rescue children in a war that took the lives of more than 100,000 civilians.
It is nice to know that we have such a courageous person living in this city. I also applaud the Tribune for giving Ms. Blackman the opportunity to discuss with the rest of us her 10-month ordeal. She is an inspiration to all who want to make a positive difference in this sometimes cruel world.
