Samuel Gordon DeLay, 71, a longtime Elgin resident, died Wednesday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Mr. DeLay was born in Chicago. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and joined the U.S. Army in 1947, where he served for four years. He continued working for the military as a personnel officer. Survivors include his wife, Joan; a son, John; a daughter, Michelle Morgan; a sister; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel.
