My children were only a year apart. About 30 years ago, when she was 2 and he was only 1, Karin went to Mark’s crib and, wanting him to come out to play, let the side of the crib down while he was standing there holding onto the side.
He tumbled out of the crib head first, onto a wooden floor. I called the local hospital’s emergency number and was told to watch for the signs of a concussion. Fortunately, no damage was done.
Who would ever believe this true story if it happened today? Following the Louise Woodward decision, I would probably be jailed for child abuse.
