The Village of Woodridge, the only municipality with three interchanges on Interstate Highway 355, strongly supports extending I-355 south to I-80. It is necessary to meet the region’s transportation needs and facilitate economic development.
Woodridge is in a unique position to judge the merits of such an expansion. I-355 has benefited Woodridge residents and enabled the community to attract and regain business opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
Woodridge enjoyed a cooperative working relationship with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority during the construction of the North-South Tollway. When the original I-355 proposal was initiated during the late 1980s, the Village of Woodridge, residents and tollway officials worked together to mitigate its impact to residents. The result is a functional, attractively landscaped tollway that benefited our community and the metropolitan area.
I encourage residents to write the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority demonstrating their support for extending I-355 to I-8O.
