If Uli Schmetzer had bothered to do his homework, he would have known that Jose Laurel, not Manuel Roxas, was the puppet president of the Japanese in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation (Main news, Oct. 29).

And why did he put “elected” in quotes in talking about Roxas as the first president after liberation? Manuel Roxas was much loved, was duly elected and is considered by many as the father of his country.
