I agree with the Oct. 26 article headlined “Some not ready to ride `L’ to Woodfield” (Page 1).
Northwest suburban officials appear to be toying with the idea of extending the “L” from the city to the suburbs. This extension would go as far as Woodfield, Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg and Rolling Meadows.
The “L” extension is a bad idea for three reasons: pollution, taxes and overcrowding. It would cost an estimated $300 million out of taxpayers’ wallets.
The “L” is not quiet but a form of noise pollution. The suburbs serve as a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of noisy city life. The last thing people want to hear when they get up is the noise of loud tracks. Better transportation ideas are wider roads and car-pooling.
