August Sonne, 88, of Fox Lake, formerly of Morton Grove, died Friday in the Manor Nursing Home in Libertyville. A native of Morton Grove, Mr. Sonne was the former owner of the Sonne Electric Co., located in that community. He was active in community events in Morton Grove, where he served as a volunteer firefighter for 33 years and was also a member of the town’s Morton Grove Days Committee. “It was just home for him, and he worked for improvements,” said his wife, Ebba. Other survivors include a son, Robert; a daughter, Judith Thornton; two foster children; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
