Brian Cox’s piece on the proposed entertainment development in Evanston’s Research Park (Metro, Nov. 11) correctly noted that the city has already sunk $13 million into the park with little to show for it.
He fails to note that the city fathers (and mothers) are proposing to sink another $16 million or more of taxpayer money into the new development. Why should we trust their judgment of the market any more this time than last time? This is nothing more than a real-estate speculation with public money. Maybe it’s time to let the developers risk some of their own money for a change.
