I would like to congratulate your editors on the wonderful and moving tribute to former President George Bush (“With gratitude to George Bush,” Editorial, Nov. 9). In this era of increasingly liberal press, it is encouraging to read that someone besides me still believes President Bush to be a great man. What a shame it was when he was defeated by a man who equates “truth” and “integrity” with empty rhetoric and deceit.
It is comforting to know that some people, such as the Tribune editorial writers, are not afraid to stand up for a man whose only “failure” is his self-effacing manner toward his own achievements.
