Roselle Library Board members on Wednesday night began considering revisions in the library’s circulation policy and computer use.
“We received a request from a patron asking us to reconsider our circulation period on new fiction,” said Diane Lueder, library director.
The current policy states that any new release of 500 or fewer pages must be returned in a week.
“We’re recommending that limit be changed to 400 pages, and anything more than that can be checked out for up to three weeks,” Lueder said.
Other changes in policy that were discussed include the official abolishment of the paperback exchange program, which was eliminated this year because of space limits when library renovations were completed.
Committee of the Whole members will recommend that the Library Board limit to six the number of audio books that can be checked out at one time. Lueder said that although six seems like a high number, demand for the audio books has been even higher.
Each patron wishing to use the computer laboratory will be issued rules and a short test to determine whether he or she can use the library’s machines without a staff member working with him or her.
The Library’s Board is expected to act on the proposals in December.
