In the continuing effort to get you in the Christmas – i.e., spending – mood, the elves of the Mag Mile have set their annual lighting festivities for this weekend. Disney characters will boogie live at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave., at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday. Also that day, kids can visit Santa at the historic Water Tower from 1 to 4 p.m. The lighting of 600,000 twinkling lights by Mickey Mouse and his entourage will begin at 6 p.m. Sources close to Santa say the best viewing spot for the light show and Saturday’s 6:55 p.m. fireworks display is near the Michigan Avenue Bridge. From there, you can’t miss “Lights Muse,” the Tribune Tower light sculpture.
More Santa on Sunday when the Bearded One arrives via the Christmas Tree Boat at Navy Pier’s entrance at 5 p.m. to host the annual LIghts Up ceremony.
