A fate worse than debt? Apparently, disarranged death. Chris Petrakos’ article “Plan ahead: How to deal with the inevitable” (Your Money, Nov. 11) quotes experts who advise us to shop for our own demise, encouraging us to select casket, service and ceremony well in advance of that final departure. “Preneed” is the euphemism used by funeral directors and others in the industry, who stand to make millions in this latest marketing pitch.

Buy now, die later. No wonder they call it a cemetery plot.
