The McHenry County Board’s Planning and Development Committee has recommended approval of two subdivisions.
Clearwater subdivision would be a 20-home water-ski community in the former Fram Materials gravel pit lake area at Lily Lake Road and River Road, between Lakemoor and Island Lake.
The subdivision is in unincorporated McHenry County. Developer Fred Leiner of Chicago has an agreement to have wastewater from the development pumped into a Lakemoor sewer line that connects to an Island Lake Sanitary Sewer District treatment plant.
The other development is Berian Estates, a 56-home development on 61 acres between Terra Cotta Avenue and Illinois Highway 176, near the northeast corner of Crystal Lake.
The development has raised the ire of officials in nearby Prairie Grove, because the Illinois Department of Transportation designated a corridor on the property for a road to help reconfigure the five-way intersection of Illinois Highways 176 and 31 and Terra Cotta Avenue.
The intersection is confusing and sometimes the cause of lengthy traffic backups, some committee members said.
