A federal judge postponed next year’s Teamsters union election for at least 45 days, to early April, so investigators can probe charges of fundraising impropriety against presidential candidate James P. Hoffa. Separately, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney said there were no grounds to dismiss Secretary-Treasurer Rich Trumka, who has been linked to illegal campaign fundraising last year by the campaign of Teamsters President Ron Carey. Carey has been barred from running in the repeat election.
