George Gordon, 83, of Buffalo Grove died Thursday in Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Mr. Gordon, a Chicago native, was a 1932 graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf. After his graduation, he joined his family’s business, Ace Salvage Co., in Chicago. Upon his father’s death in 1945, Mr. Gordon became a co-owner and president of the firm, holding that post until he retired in 1983. He was a founding and active member of the Congregation Bene Shalom Hebrew Association of the Deaf in Skokie for about 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Anna; two daughters, Darlene Lundquist and Elly Whalen; a son, Lou; two sisters; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Weinstein Family Services Wilmette Chapel, 111 N. Skokie Blvd., Wilmette.
