Thank you for your viewpoint column (“In defense of elitism,” Nov. 9). What you wrote about could be applied generally in society today. Standards are lowered in education, religion, mass media, etc., to accommodate the general public, who want not to think or be mentally stimulated, but be entertained!
Pity the future.
