Three Schuyler County residents have been arrested in a scheme so bizarre even veteran police officers say they’ve never seen anything like it.

A 17-year-old, his girlfriend and another man allegedly planned to kill or disable a sheriff’s deputy, steal his squad car and use it to pull over an armored car in Rushville, police said.

They would then bomb the truck and steal the money inside so the two teens could run off and get married, said Sheriff Don Schieferdecker. “I’ve never come across anything like this.”

Police arrested Billy Joe Agans, 17, Melissa R. Litviak, 18, and James K. Hendricks, 50. All are charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
