Methode Electronics Inc. reported fiscal second-quarter profits rose 4 percent, to $9.5 million, or 27 cents per share, from $9.1 million, or 26 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
The Chicago-based maker of electronic components and devices said sales in the quarter, which ended Oct. 31, climbed 17 percent, to $99.9 million from $85.2 million.
For the six months, earnings rose 9 percent, to $18.6 million, or 53 cents per share, from $17.1 million, or 49 cents per share, in the 1996 half. Sales climbed 17 percent, to $191.8 million from $164.1 million.
