Though trustees recently approved the final configuration of a proposed Cambridge Homes subdivision, county and federal agencies remained some time away from approving final construction permits.
Eight acres of wetlands and a flood plain on the 52-acre site will require the county Environmental Services Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to review plans before permits are issued, county officials said. Major reviews of the plans are pending, officials said.
In addition, several sets of permits will be issued to ensure that the developer is following county, state and federal environmental laws pertaining to wetlands and floodplains, county officials said.
Cambridge, of Libertyville, plans to build 116 single-family homes on the site at County Farm Road and Birchbark Lane.
Cambridge Homes Vice President John Scapin said he hopes to get the permits around the first of the year and expects to break ground soon thereafter.
