The Wheeling Community District 21 is seeking state money to buy materials for its libraries.
The grant, funded by Secretary of State George Ryan’s office, amounts to about $6,000 for the year.
“It’s relatively small, but it’s consistent and we count on it,” said Bill Myers, associate superintendent of instruction for the district.
Ryan, who also serves as state librarian, doles out the grants to almost every school district in the state, and the application process is routine, according Myers.
