Three cheers for Clarence Page’s characteristically clear-eyed and gutsy column in favor of renaming schools that honor former slave owners–even one New Orleans elementary school originally named for George Washington (“Bidding bye-bye to slaveholders’ schools,” Op-Ed, Nov. 26). As usual, Page blends reason and compassion to make his case, while giving a nod to which direction he feels we ought to be heading.
