Get a jump on any excuses you might make this month about not having enough time to exercise by buying a jump rope. Research shows jumping rope is easier on the knees than running or step-aerobics, provided you stick to the proper form of lifting about one inch off the ground.

Skipping 70 turns per minute is equal to running 10-minute miles or pedaling 13 miles during an hour bike ride. Fifteen minutes a day, several times a week, is an effective squeeze-it-in-your-schedule workout. For peak aerobic conditioning, try an intervals routine of 30 seconds jumping at full burst, then 30 seconds of rest. Repeat as long as you can safely endure it–or fit it into holiday plans.
