I was amazed that the only reference in the Dec. 7 editions to the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor was the Page 6 article concerning the possible relocation of the USS Missouri to a site near the USS Arizona. To make matters worse, the article referred to the attack as a “sunrise attack.” No mention of how many men died in that attack. No mention that the attack triggered the U.S. entry into World War II. Not even a reference to President Roosevelt’s now-famous statement about “a day that will live in infamy.”

But, every Aug. 6 we are treated to pictures and stories about how much the Japanese suffered because the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs to end what Japan had started.
