The chairman of the Futures Industry Association, a key player in the effort to combine the clearing organizations of Chicago’s futures exchanges, confirmed he will step down from his post in January. John Sievwright, co-chairman of Merrill Lynch Futures, is moving to Tokyo to become a regional chief operating officer for the New York-based brokerage firm. The Washington, D.C.-based trade association is expected to appoint an interim chairman within a few weeks.
