Birthday: July 9, 1976.

Birthplace: Highland Park, Ill.

Occupation: Actor and student. I’m taking the term off from Stanford University, where I’m a senior majoring in English and creative writing.

Current home: Los Angeles.

Marital status: Single.

Working on: I’m in “Working” on NBC-TV.

Prized possession: My grandfather used to be an amateur boxer, and he won a lot of awards. He gave them to me in a cool frame with a picture of him boxing.

I’ve never been able to: Play sports really well. I’d love to be more athletic.

People always think I’m: My brother, Ben, who’s 16 and in “Boy Meets World.”

I’m better than anyone else when it comes to: I don’t have a huge amount of confidence in myself in any one area.

I’d give anything to meet: I love old movies and I read lots of biographies and autobiographies and accounts of making movies in the ’30s and ’40s and ’50s; I’d love to sit down and talk to some of those people.

The one thing I can’t stand: When people are confrontational, like when they honk at you.

People who knew me in high school thought I was: Unfriendly. I always find a group I’m comfortable with, and then I don’t wander too much outside of that.

The best times in my life: There are always little moments of overwhelming joy and contentment. They can be anytime, when I’m just sitting with friends, laughing, feeling I have no responsibilities, enjoying the moment.

The worst times in my life: When I’m regretful, knowing I’ve missed something because I’ve been lazy or not pro-active.

If I weren’t an actor, I’d be: A teacher.

Most humbling experience: I took “Introduction to Literary Theory” at Stanford, taught by an unbelievable professor. But the first lecture, it was like he was speaking another language. I wound up with a B+.

The three words that best describe me: Honest, procrastinator, emotional.
