Police officials said the department will join the Illinois State Police in running checkpoints on Naperville streets beginning Monday.

Naperville Police Sgt. David Hoffman said the weeklong effort is being publicized as a deterrent to potential traffic-law violators. Hoffman said police will be checking for valid driver’s licenses, proof of insurance, seat belt compliance and drunken drivers.
