– Thanks to Carolina’s loss against Green Bay, Tampa Bay clinched a wild-card playoff spot and will play at home Dec. 27 or 28. It’s Tampa Bay’s first playoff appearance since 1982.
– Detroit rallied to beat the Vikings 14-13 to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Lions and Vikings, both 8-7, control their own fates in the race for the last two NFC playoff spots. Washington (7-7-1) needs a victory and a loss by the Lions or Vikings.
– The Jets’ upset of Tampa Bay means the AFC East race goes down to the last weekend with New England, Miami and the Jets still alive. Two will make the playoffs; the other goes home.
– Jacksonville clinched an AFC wild-card berth with a victory over Buffalo.
