James F. Bednar, 63, of Elgin, lived with his disabled mother and took care of her while working as a coin changer on the Grand Victoria Casino riverboat in Elgin. He died Thursday after suffering a heart attack while playing pool with some friends. Mr. Bednar originally was from the Northwest Side of Chicago. He and his mother, Frances Bednarowicz, moved to Elgin five years ago. Mr. Bednar had a pilot’s license and was passionate about flying, often taking nieces and nephews for rides. He also is survived by a brother, Vincent. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd., Schaumburg. Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Hubert Church, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates.
