On Saturday, the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum will stage a Winter Sunfest – a celebration of the shift of the sun’s movement northward. This event, signaling that more daylight is on the way as the sun moves higher in the midday sky, is known as the Winter Solstice. Weather and sky conditions permitting, visitors will be able to view the sun’s atmosphere and surface safely through a solar telescope, make their own pocket sundials and explore the phenomena of Northern Lights. The Sunfest is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Adler Planetarium, 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive. Call 312-922-7827.
