The beer bandit is at it again.

Ohlly’s Radiator Service in Peoria has been burglarized twice in the past two weeks and just one thing is missing: beer from the refrigerator.

After the most recent burglary on Dec. 11, co-owner Temple “Rusty” Ohl said the thief left one can from a six-pack behind in response to a whimsical note left in the refrigerator after the first burglary.

The note “was sort of a joke,” Ohl said. “If you’re going to bother me with something this stupid, at least leave me a beer.”

Ohl called the situation “ridiculous” and a waste of time for employees who must repair damage caused by the break-ins and for police who must respond to the crimes.

His brother Rich is a bit more amused about the beer bandit.

“I’m just glad that’s all they take. I’ll just leave a couple (cans of beer) in there to keep them happy, so they don’t get mad and trash the place,” he said. “I get kind of a kick out if it.”
