Brother Arthur Bertling, 85, died Thursday in the Christian Brothers Center in Romeoville. Brother Bertling entered the Order of Christian Brothers in 1931, right after graduation from De La Salle High School in Romeoville. He later received a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary College in Winona, Minn., and a master’s degree and a doctorate from Loyola University in Chicago. Brother Bertling served as a teacher and an administrator at various schools throughout the Midwest, including St. Mary and Lewis University in Romeoville. He also served in missions around the world, including those in Columbia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico and the Philippines. Brother Bertling is survived by a sister and three brothers. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Christian Brothers Center, 200 De La Salle Drive, Romeoville. Mass will be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the center.
