All county residents who have Christmas trees to recycle are asked to bring them to one of three drop-off locations.

All tinsel, decorations and lights need to be removed from the trees beforehand.

Commercial drop-offs are prohibited. The trees will be chipped into mulch for residents’ use to save valuable space in landfills.

For more information and to find out when the mulch will be available, call the McHenry County Conservation District at 815-678-4431.

From Friday through Jan. 15, the drop-off locations are: Algonquin Township Building, east of The Hollows’ entrance off of U.S. Highway 14 in Cary; the Harts Road parking area in Glacial Park, 6512 Harts Rd., Ringwood; and the Rush Creek horse trailer parking area off McGuire Road southeast of Harvard.
