Cook County Circuit Judge Ronald Riley is scheduled to rule Monday on a suit filed against the City of Chicago by the Fraternal Order of Police.
The union sued last month to block a new sergeants test and the “merit” promotions Mayor Richard Daley has said he will make to supplement those promotions made based on test scores.
The union is seeking an injunction that would prevent the police department from making promotions based on merit or any other factor and instead require that the city rely on the test scores.
