Michaela Lee Tuohy, 61, a staff member in the Mayor’s Office of Special Events and a former journalist, died Thursday of a heart attack in her North Side home, her family said. Mrs. Tuohy, known as “Mike” to her friends, was known for a skewering wit and consummate skill as a storyteller. “Michaela was an excellent writer. Her talent and creativity were an asset to the city, and her sense of humor, quick wit and humanitarian spirit were inspiring,” said Mayor Richard Daley. Mrs. Tuohy joined the Mayor’s Office of Special Events in 1990, serving as its Internet specialist and helping design the city’s Web site. She also wrote for the Chicago Reader and U.S. Catholic magazine. Survivors include her husband, Jim; a daughter, Michaela; and two sons, John and Donald. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago.
