The Shedd Aquarium has a whale of a New Year’s Eve celebration planned for kids and families. Revelers will be treated to a scavenger hunt, a dance party complete with limbo contest, sing-a-longs, craft projects (face painting and glittery frog hats) and photo opportunities with some of the 6,000 or so aquatic animals who live at Shedd. A diver in the big Coral Reef exhibit will lead the “Midnight Countdown” from underwater, while partygoers feast on pizza and other snacks. Tickets for “Kiddie New Year” cost $21 for children over age 3 and $25 for adults. All children attending the event, which runs from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, must be accompanied by an adult.
