Eleanore C. Blomquist, 80, a real-life World War II “Rosie the Riveter,” according to her son, John, died Tuesday in Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights. Mrs. Blomquist, who assembled bombers for Douglas Aircraft in Chicago during World War II while her husband served overseas in the Army, lived in Arlington Heights for 40 years. She worked for 27 years as a manager of the boys department in Crawford’s Department Store in Rolling Meadows until retiring in 1989. Besides her son, she is survived by her husband, John; another son, Robert; a daughter, Elaine Bishop; four sisters; and seven grandchildren. Mass will be said at noon Saturday in St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
