Robert J. Baker, 73, a trucking consultant, died Wednesday in his Wheaton home. He was a Chicago native. Mr. Baker was injured while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II; his nurse became his wife of 51 years, Betty. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Penelope Lawlar and Merry Jo Slowinski; two sons, Robert and William; a brother; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held Friday.
