William A.P. Campo, 67, a veteran of the Korean War and a machinery mechanic, died Thursday in his Elk Grove Village home. Mr. Campo was born on the North Side of Chicago but had lived in Elk Grove Village since 1966, said his daughter, Shirley Best. Mr. Campo worked for many years in the mailing business and owned his own company until 1978. He then worked for other mailing companies. About 10 years ago, he began working as a mechanic, said his daughter. Best said her father was involved in the local Moose Lodge and was “a great dad” who “loved his grandkids.” In addition to his daughter, Mr. Campo is survived by a son, Thomas; one sister; and three grandchildren. Services were held Saturday.
