The second annual Chanel and Seventeen Colour of the Year contest has produced two awesome new Chanel nail colors to suit your mood, rain or shine.
In fact, the colors – a shimmery blue-gray and a sunny, lightly frosted yellow – are named for the two weather conditions. Rain was formulated by Kate Jackson, 15, of Chicago and Shine by Roxanne Riccardi, 22, of Randolph, N.J. Each winner gets Seventeen and Chanel freebies, $1,000 and a trip to New York.
Newly crowned local fashion expert Kate calls her color “bold without being too flashy.” She envisions it on the manicured nails of teen movie queens Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone.
Jean Hoehn Zimerman of Chanel says: “We expect Rain and Shine to be seen on fashion-forward hands as must-have colours of the winter season.”
What’s cool about the colors (we fashion ignoramuses spell it without the “u”) is that we can imagine them on our winter-stressed, regular gal nails!
Chanel polishes go for about $15 (so we’ll be hunting for cheaper knockoffs).
