Ray Barton, 90, of Munster, owner of three northwest Indiana bowling alleys, died Saturday in Community Hospital in Munster. He owned the Stardust Bowling Lanes in Hammond, Dyer and Merrillville. Mr. Barton was born in Minsk, Russia, and moved to Hammond as a child. He started in the produce business, which grew into Barton’s Food Center, a 24-hour supermarket and drugstore in Hammond. He entered the bowling business in the late 1950s, when he owned 12/20 Bowl in Gary. Mr. Barton was a contributor to many Jewish organizations and local churches. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara; a son, Bruce; two sisters; a brother; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, followed by a funeral service.
