My thanks to John McCarron and your staff for “Subway tales: Nerve-racking at any speed” (Op-Ed, Dec. 8).

Living in the suburbs, I use the CTA once or twice a week and am very frustrated with the most recent changes made by the CTA (such as elimination of skip-stop system and the elimination of conductors). The trip, off-rush hour, from the Loop to Howard has now increased by as much as 30 minutes. I have written to the hierarchy at the CTA several times, and the only reply that I received back was a transit map!

I am very pleased with Mayor Richard Daley’s performance in every aspect of city government, except for local transportation, and I hope that he and CTA Chair Frank Kruesi can turn this organization around.
