Congress has given a $2.3 billion “tax refund” to Amtrak, which has never paid a penny in income taxes (“All aboard for a tax ripoff,” Op-Ed, Dec. 23).

Meanwhile, the IRS has placed liens on or seized the homes of 70,000 Americans, according to an aide to Congressman Henry Hyde, rendering them bankrupt or homeless or both.

What kind of government bankrupts its own citizens to bail out a failed socialist experiment in transportation? What kind of electorate puts up with such a terrible outrage?
