Kahn, a longtime grassroots social activist and earnestly eloquent songwriter responsible for such contemporary folk classics as “Aragon Mill,” reflects on the love, friendships and struggles he has shared with family, co-workers and companions over the years in this appealing collection of original songs. The moods range from middle-aged romantic (“Sixteen”) to regretful (“Burning the Fields”) but most often celebrate the possibilities of friendship and the potential of the human spirit. Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, who co-produced, contributed harmony vocals on a number of cuts and also provided instrumental accompaniment on guitar, bazouki, banjo and mandolin.
