Library officials are estimating that the renovation of the public library will be completed in March.
Peg Brandon, library director, said one of the goals of the renovation is to increase the library’s public space. She said the main floor is being reconfigured and that a new circulation desk, a new elevator and a meeting room are being added.
“I would say the (space used by patrons) is being increased by 25 percent,” Brandon said.
The new elevator will go to the library’s third floor, which previously had been inaccessible to the disabled. A meeting room will be located there.
About 40 percent of the $402,000 project will be funded by state grants.
