Fifth-ranked Texas Tech proved Wednesday night it can win at less than its best.

The Lady Raiders (9-2, 2-0) committed 22 turnovers and barely outrebounded Baylor (8-4, 1-1), but shot 65 percent on the way to beating the visiting Bears 82-63 in the Big 12 Conference game.

Texas Tech was 20 of 27 in the second half as it pulled away from a 38-31 lead at halftime.

Alicia Thompson, who didn’t hit her first basket until 7 minutes 56 seconds remained in the first half, had 22 points and 14 rebounds for the Lady Raiders and Angie Braziel added 18 points.

“We really had to do some things well in order to win,” Tech coach Marsha Sharp said. “We shot the ball extremely well and a lot of that was because of the decisions we made when we had the ball in our hands. Our guards did a great job of putting our post players in a position to score.”

Colorado 84, Nebraska 78: Shelley Garcia scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the host Buffaloes (8-4, 2-0) overcame a 33-point effort by Anna DeForge and upset the 16th-ranked Cornhuskers (12-5, 1-2) in a Big 12 game.

Alabama 62, Auburn 46: Brittney Ezell and Dominique Canty each scored 17 points to lead the host Crimson Tide (9-5, 2-1) to a Southeastern Conference victory over the No. 18 Tigers (11-2, 1-2).

Vanderbilt 64, Kentucky 54: Na’Sheema Hillmon led with 19 points and had four blocked shots as the No. 6 Commodores (12-1, 3-0) defeated the visiting Wildcats (8-6, 1-2) in an SEC game.

Florida 94, Georgia 61: Murriel Page scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the No. 12 Gators (11-3, 3-0) defeated the visiting 20th-ranked Bulldogs (9-4, 0-1) in the SEC contest. The 33-point loss is Georgia’s worst loss in league play.
