In the face of neighborhood opposition, the developers of about 6 acres on the far west side have withdrawn plans to include a law office at the edge of a proposed single-family home development.
Philip G. Ruddy, the attorney for Deerpath Partners, Tuesday told the City Council the firm is dropping plans to put the law office near Indian Trail Road at its development east of Deerpath Road.
Although city planning staff recommended some sort of “transitional” commercial use near Indian Trial to “buffer” commercial uses across the street, the opposition persuaded Deerpath Partners to drop that part of the plan, Ruddy said.
It also had planned to build 20 houses, grouped in clusters to save open space and trees, on the parcel. Now, without the law office, Deerpath Partners wants to build 24 homes, Ruddy said.
