Let’s get real: What else can you do with the weather right now except cross-country ski — if the snow gods cooperate, that is. The Forest Preserve District of Cook County sponsors its 4th annual Ski Fest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. “Our object is not to make money but for people to have a positive winter experience,” says Mike Konrath, Director of Cook County’s Forest Preserve District. The fest features free lessons for first-time skiers and free rental equipment for those participating. Prizes will be awarded for various races, and the fun also includes folk singers, a scavenger hunt, and snacks. If there’s no snow, all Fest activities, plus an equipment demonstration, will go on anyway — minus the skiing. The free event is at Camp Sagawau, 12545 W. 11th St., just east of Archer Avenue, in Lemont. Call 630-257-2045.
