I resent receiving Page 1 news interpreted by a writer under a headline with a political spin.

The story “Clinton launches ’98 leaning to the Left,” by William Neikirk (Jan. 6), is strictly an opinionated slant to the news. The president announced plans for pre-retirees to be allowed to buy into Medicare. This is a proposal that appeals to a certain age group, whether the people are Democrats or Republicans. In addition, the need to increase funds for biomedical research will benefit cancer patients from all parties. And the need to provide decent, affordable child care is a benefit to all children.
